Beech Avenue Pumping Station

Following numerous overflow and pollution incidents Pump Supplies were commissioned to carry out a full refurbishment of Beech Avenue Ejector Station.

The existing installation was a 1950’s Ejector Station, whereby the surcharged system was pumped away with each pneumatic cycle.

Although effective these type of installation is antiquated and easily overcome when new housing developments are built and included on the same drainage system.

Following a comprehensive evaluation of the site a couple of working solutions were designed by Pump Supplies.

The most competitively priced and best engineered solution was as follows:

  • Decommission all existing plant
  • Set up temporary pumping system to deal with incoming flow.
  • Fabricate a stainless steel tank to operate as a wet well container, installed within the existing drywell.
  • Install dry well submersible pumps located within the existing dry well.
  • Install ultrasonic level controls situated on the new tank
  • Install new control panel
  • Install new domestic services to the building.

All of the above works was engineered by Pump Supplies with consideration taken into account of future maintenance works that would need to be carried out.

Current flow rates and storm conditions were also peripheral in our specifications.

Once all equipment was specified and purchased / fabricated, the scheme was set up and completed within a 3 day works program.

With few breakdowns and the station coping with demand even in storm conditions the installation has been a great success.
